New Turf & Mulch for Garden Beds

Project Overview:

This Corinda homeowner loved their outdoor space but was tired of dealing with patchy lawn and dry garden beds.

They wanted a soft, green area to enjoy and low-maintenance gardens that still looked sharp year-round.

As gardening and landscaping contractors in Brisbane, we were engaged to refresh the rear yard with new turf installation, fresh garden mulch, and healthier soil preparation to make the entire garden easier to care for.

Challenges

The rear lawn was thin, uneven, and struggling to grow under the heavy shade from mature screening plants.

The soil was compacted, and old grass runners were still present, making it difficult for any new lawn to establish properly.

The garden beds along the fence were drying out fast, which meant frequent hand watering and ongoing weed issues.

The homeowner wanted an attractive, low-maintenance landscape that looked great and used water efficiently.

Our Process

• Tilled the rear lawn areas to break up compacted soil and remove remnants of the existing grass.
• Supplied, delivered, and spread up to two cubic metres of under-turf soil to level the lawn and create a rich base for new roots.
• Applied Acelepryn to protect the new lawn from lawn grubs for up to three months.
• To help the new lawn settle in, we applied starter fertiliser for strong, early growth.
• Installed up to forty square metres of Zoysia Matrella ShadeTuff turf in the shaded zones, chosen for its ability to thrive in Brisbane’s low-light garden areas.
• Supplied, delivered, and installed four cubic metres of Tropical Cypress Blend mulch in the garden beds to improve water retention, reduce weeds, and provide a warm, neat finish.

Safety and Planning

The rear yard presented several challenges, including limited access points and existing paths and structures that needed protection.

To address this, we worked closely with the homeowner to plan material delivery and wheelbarrow routes that would avoid any damage.

Our team used appropriate personal protective equipment and followed safe handling practices for all chemicals and machinery.

We worked carefully throughout the project to keep the site safe, organised and ready for a successful turf and mulch installation.

Project Outcome: The yard is now greener, cleaner, and easier to maintain.

The backyard is now covered with a healthy ShadeTuff lawn and neat, mulched garden beds

The Tropical Cypress Blend mulch has brightened the planting areas while cutting down on the time the homeowner spends weeding and watering.

With improved soil beneath the turf and lawn grub protection in place, the new grass is thriving even in the shaded areas.

The property now offers a comfortable, low-maintenance outdoor space that’s ready to enjoy every day.
