Project Overview

The boundary fence and retaining wall at this Sinnamon Park property were leaning and needed replacement.

Our team at 1300 4 Gardening provided a practical landscape solution, installing stronger, long-lasting fencing and retaining walls designed for durability and low maintenance.

Challenges

The original fence and low retaining wall along the left side boundary had been in place for many years.

Rotting timber, loose posts and movement in the wall meant the ground behind it had begun to slump. The homeowner was concerned about losing soil and wanted to fix the issue before it became a bigger problem.

Access was tight, and we needed to work around existing garden beds while still giving the new structure enough strength and depth.

Timber retaining wall and boundary fence being installed step by step

Our Process

  • Removed the existing section of fence and the old retaining wall, and loaded all waste for off-site disposal.
  • Cleared and prepared the area, then set out the new line for the retaining wall.
  • Installed 50 x 200 mm CCA treated pine sleepers for the retaining wall, supported by posts concreted 600 mm into the ground and secured with baton screws to create a solid, stable base.
  • Built the left-side fence by installing 100 x 100 mm hardwood posts, concreted 600 mm deep.
  • Fixed 75 x 38 mm CCA treated pine rails to the posts with baton screws.
  • Finished the fence with 16 x 100 mm palings, nailed off with a nail gun, creating a secure and durable boundary.

Safety and Planning

We walked the site with the homeowner and set out a clear plan for how the work would progress.

We confirmed boundary lines, checked levels and located underground services so new posts and sleepers could be installed safely.

Our licensed, insured team used appropriate protective gear, set posts in correctly engineered footings and monitored soil stability throughout the job to make sure the new structures were safe, secure and built to last.
